Garden
This project explores stencil art through the creation of a botanical design, inspired by an outdoor plant. The goal was to capture the distinct features of the chosen flower and stylize it for effective stenciling, focusing on the balance between positive and negative space. The intended audience includes public art viewers and art students. The primary constraints involved simplifying the design while maintaining recognizability, and integrating it harmoniously with the surrounding landscape using mud stencils.
The stencil design was simplified into essential shapes, preserving the recognizability of the plant while ensuring it was suitable for stenciling. Positive and negative spaces were carefully balanced for a visually cohesive result. Mud was chosen as the printing material, blending naturally with the environment and enhancing the connection to the landscape. The stencil was repeated in a grid pattern to create a rhythmic visual effect, emphasizing the organic theme. Durable construction with stable bridges allowed for multiple uses, ensuring consistent prints throughout the project.
